Frequently Asked Questions

A complete guide to using IliaCloud, step by step.

Getting started

Where should I start on IliaCloud? +

Start by creating your account, verifying your email, then add your first SSH key in Settings. Next, add a server and validate the connection.

What are the prerequisites to connect a server? +

You need valid SSH access: host/IP, port, user, and the private key matching the public key authorized on the server.

What is the recommended first-time workflow? +

Account → email verification → add SSH key → add server → check dashboard → configure alerts and backups.

SSH and servers

How do I generate an SSH key? +

On Linux/macOS, use ssh-keygen. Then copy the public key to the target server and add the private key in IliaCloud > Settings > SSH Keys.

Why is the SSH connection failing? +

Check the IP, port, user, key permissions, and that the public key is in authorized_keys. Also check the firewall.

Can I manage multiple servers? +

Yes. Use the server selector to switch between the global view and a specific server.

Dashboard

What does the Dashboard contain? +

The Dashboard displays key metrics (CPU, RAM, disk, load), history and overall health of your servers.

How do I read the status indicators? +

Green = healthy, orange = warning, red = critical. Thresholds are linked to metrics and alert rules.

Docker

What can I do in Docker? +

List containers, view their status, start/stop/restart, view logs and stats.

How do I redeploy a stack? +

From the Docker/Stacks section, open the target stack then launch the redeployment or rollback.

Logs, Actions, Cron

How do I follow logs in real time? +

Add a log path, open the stream and apply filters. The feed is updated live via WebSocket.

What are quick actions for? +

Quick actions let you run recurring shell commands in one click with result tracking.

How do I manage cron jobs? +

In Cron, you can list, create, edit, enable/disable and delete scheduled tasks.

Terminal

How do I open the terminal? +

From the hamburger menu, click Terminal. The drawer opens at the bottom of the screen.

Does the terminal support colors? +

Yes, the terminal supports ANSI 256 colors and resizing.

Backups

How do I run a manual backup? +

From Backups, select the source and trigger an immediate backup.

Can I automate backups? +

Yes, configure a schedule and enable success/failure webhook notifications.

Uptime, SSL, Webhooks

How do I set up an uptime monitor? +

Add an HTTP/HTTPS URL, choose the frequency, then track latency and availability.

How does SSL monitoring work? +

Add a domain, then track the expiration date and receive an alert before it expires.

What are webhooks for? +

They send notifications to Discord, Slack, Telegram or a custom endpoint on events (alerts, backups, etc.).

Alerts

What types of alerts can I create? +

CPU, RAM, disk, load, container down, uptime down, SSL expiring.

How do I avoid alert spam? +

A 15-minute anti-spam cooldown is applied between identical alerts.

AI Chat

How do I enable AI chat? +

Add an API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Mistral, Google, DeepSeek or xAI) in Settings > AI Keys.

What can the assistant do? +

Metrics diagnostics, log interpretation, resolution suggestions and operational recommendations.

Access sharing and groups

How do I create a group? +

Settings > Groups > Create. Give it a name, link a server, then check the Docker containers visible to members.

How do I invite a member? +

In the group, enter the member's email. If already known from another group, they are added directly. Otherwise, an email invitation is sent (72h, max 5 resends).

What can a member see? +

Only the Docker containers assigned to the group and associated data (uptime, SSL, logs, backups, audit). The menu is reduced based on their permissions.

What do the permission levels mean? +

None = no access. Read = view only. Full = view + actions. Some zones only have 2 levels (Terminal, Chat = None or Full).

What are the presets? +

Reader (view only), Operator (Docker/backups/cron/chat actions), Admin (everything).

Is the terminal secure for members? +

Yes. Docker terminal via docker exec, no SSH access to the server. The member is confined to their container.

Does the member inherit the owner's plan? +

Yes. Plan limits, API keys and SSH connections are those of the owner.

Group quotas per plan? +

Free/Pro: disabled. Business: 10 groups/server, 3 members. Enterprise: 20 groups/server, unlimited.

How do I revoke a member? +

In the group, click on the member then Revoke. Access is cut immediately.

Billing

How do I change plans? +

Settings > Billing. The change takes effect immediately, billing is prorated.

What happens if I exceed a limit? +

The action is blocked with a message prompting you to upgrade.
